my college at Tsinghua University

Seven years at Tsinghua University, also known as the MIT of China. I was stretched to my every possible potential in many aspects, besides the study. I did pretty well in terms of academic performance. As a student in dual degree program, I ranked on the top lists in both departments. But the activities I participanted in the music band and gymnastique team make my life in Tsinghua so memmorable.

I was a member of Tsinghua's chinese music band. I played ZhongRuan (likes guitar or mandolin), DiZhi (bomboo flute) and Xiao (likes English horn). What I liked most is not on-stage performance, but the training during summer and winter breaks.

As a gymnastique athelete of Tsinghua University, I usually spent three hours each day in the Gym facility. Although it pushed my time limit to handle double course loads as of a dual degree student, my practice here is truly rewarding. I participated the Beijing Collegiate Gym competation and won medals in 1991.

I started at UCLA engineering school. After two years study, I decided to quit from my Ph.D program and start to work. I can see the computer industry is booming and it is a life-time opportunity.

my life in the States

It was a dream for the college students in China to come to graduate study in the States. My dream came true in 1994 when several universities in the US offered me fellowships for graduate school.

There is no free lunch, but lots of opportunities. Everything is up to your own. Since I stepped on this land in the autumn of 1994, I worked hard on my way toward success. I know I achieved a lot as a foreigner could, and also feel I lost something valuable as my root.

I started my first job with i-Cube (Razorfish by now). I liked my job very much, as I was constantly facing technical chanllenge and learning a lot from work.
