Trisubstituted: A molecule or functional group in which three hydrogen atoms have been replaced by another atom or group. These substituents are not limited to methyl groups as shown here. When considering alkene stability, only carbon substituents matter (i.e., -CH3 or -Ph matter but -Br or -OCH3 do not).
