Fourier transform
IR spectroscopy
(
FT
-
IR
):
An
infrared spectroscopy
technique in which the
analyte
is exposed an infrared
photon
beam containing many
photon
wavelengths
, and the data recorded. The process is repeated multiple times, each with a different set of infrared
photon
wavelengths
. The resulting data is combined and treated with a mathematical process called a
Fourier transform
to produce the
infrared spectrum
.
