Combustion (burning):
A fast,
exothermic
chemical reaction of a fuel with an
oxidizing agent
(usually oxygen). Complete combustion of a
hydrocarbon
such as
methane
produces
carbon dioxide
and
water
. Incomplete combustion produces
carbon monoxide
.
