When performing the boiling point determination, make sure
that the spin vane is oriented such that it sits in the conical
vial properly (pointed end downwards).
Comprehension of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) theory and analysis
is essential for success in Chem 132BL. Chem 132BL lectures rely
on Chem 132B for general NMR instruction will not provide an in
depth treatment of NMR analysis. If you are taking Chem 132B AND
Chem 132BL concurrently, you will probably be exposed to NMR concepts
in 132BL before encountering them in 132B. Take the initiative
to learn NMR when you first encounter them (or even ahead of time!)
and not wait for the 132B syllabus to "catch you up."
For computation lab, you can save all the structures you draw
in a folder on the desktop. Give the folder a name such as your
user name. I n the end of the lab session, transfer the contents
of this folder to your folder on the Student Directory Server.
This will save you time, especially later on during the computation
experiment, because the network traffic (between your local computer
and the directory server) can become very slow.
