Important Deadlines for Fall 2004
1. Dropping
Both laboratory courses are IMPACTED CLASSES. Therefore, the last day to drop the course is Friday, October 15, 2004. (It would be nice if you would inform the instructor as well if you decide to drop the course if you attended the first meeting. See also http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/calendar/calendarf04.htm). Afterwards, you will only be able to drop the course if it would mean an extreme hardship for you to complete it. You will have to provide sufficient documentation to prove this hardship to the instructor and the administration. (Hint: Not receiving the grade that you expect due to whatever reason is not an hardship!). You are responsible to attend the course until administration decides about the case. If you do not attend to the class, after you petitioned to drop, you will receive a "F"-grade for the course since you will appear on the final roster. Those are the rules.
2. Enrollment
No student will be enrolled after the second lab meeting of the section that s/he is enrolled. If you miss the first lab meeting, it is your responsibility to inform the instructor before hand. Be aware that missing the first lab section has an impact on your final grade. You are old enough to plan your vacations and workload. You are expected to show up to the first lab, otherwise you will get dropped from the class. At the discretion of the instructor, you might be placed on the waiting list then.
Students that wish to take the course through extension have to see the instructor first. It is university policy that current enrolled students have the first priority. If there is still room available if all those students are accommodated, the extension may be enrolled as well. Keep in mind that you will have to prove that you fullfill the prerequisites for the course(s).
