Uronic acid: A carbohydrate containing both a carboxylic acid and an aldehyde or ketone. The aldehyde or ketone may be in equilibrium with the corresponding acetal.

Oxidation of D-glucopyranose's primary alcohol gives D-glucuronic acid. D-Glucuronic acid is in equilibrium between its pyranose and acyclic forms.
