RESEARCH DESCRIPTION:
The conformational properties of cyclic and acyclic molecules are being
investigated by NMR. Other tools used include deuterium equilibrium isotope
effects and empirical force-field calculations. The medium rings are being
studied in some detail because these systems have become increasingly useful
as synthetic intermediates as their conformational properties have become
better understood.
